A government statistic revealed a shocking number of workers in Iraq registered in social security.
The economic adviser to the Prime Minister appearance of Mohammed Saleh in a press statement, the number of private sector employees now reach more than 6 million people, about 200 thousand of them only registered in the Social Security Law, or 3.3%, adding that the Iraqi government approved a new law on behalf of Social insurance in the private sector in accordance with the new orientation of the social market economy.
He added that the new legislation, which is expected to be passed by Parliament, gives private sector workers the right to social security (pension). The salaries of private sector employees will depend on the percentage of monthly contributions for the same worker, but in any case salaries will not fall below the poverty line. Worth $ 2.5 a day.
Private sector strategy 2018-2022 aims to increase private sector investment from 34 percent currently to 40 percent and government investment to 60 percent, he said.
