The US State Department said the United States was not looking to fight Syrian or Iranian forces but would use "the necessary and proportionate force" to defend its forces and its partner forces in the war on a pro-Syrian organization.

"The US-led coalition remains committed to focusing on a daunting defeat in Syria and is not seeking to fight the Syrian government, Iran or Iranian support groups in Syria," a ministry official told Reuters.

"But as we said before, if we are attacked we will not hesitate In the use of force necessary and proportionate to defend US forces or coalition forces or forces engaged in operations to defeat the preacher. "

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad raised the possibility of a clash with US forces in Syria unless the United States take the lesson from Iraq and quickly relinquish Syria.

In an interview with Russia Today, Assad said he would negotiate with the US-backed fighters on the ground but would regain the territory they control by force if necessary, whether supported by US forces or not.

In response to Assad's remarks, Keno Gabriel, a spokesman for Syria's Democratic Forces, said the military solution was "not the solution that could lead to any outcome ... Any military solution to Syria's democratic forces will lead to further loss, destruction and hardship for the Syrian people."

He added in a voice message to Reuters "salvation for the Syrian situation through negotiations and through the acceptance of various parties to the conflict within Syria and the other and sit at the negotiating table and the debate on the interests of the Syrian people and their right to life freely and dignity."
