Two people were killed and 200 others injured by the earthquake in western Japan

A powerful earthquake hit western Japan on Monday, killing at least two people, including a young girl, and injuring more than 200, causing power outage, suspension of rail traffic, shutting down factories and water pipes.
Public television "NHK" and the private channel "Asahi" talked about the possibility of a rise in the death toll.
Osaka police told Agence France-Presse that they could not confirm the information immediately.
The quake hit western Japan without warning of tsunami, authorities said.
The 6.1-magnitude quake, at the American Geophysics Institute, took place at 0758 (2258 GMT Sunday) near Osaka, at a depth of 15.4 kilometers.
At least one fire broke out in a house in northern Osaka, television pictures showed.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hastened to stress that the government was in a state of mobilization, saying "the priority is to save people's lives." He ordered his team to "immediately collect information on potential damage."
The powerful earthquake has caused power outages in some areas, causing train traffic to stop at a busy time and affecting more than 170,000 homes.
