    Deputy President of the Republic Nuri al-Maliki, on Sunday, to open an official and popular investigation of the sabotage operations in the province of Basra during the past few days, while stressing the need for Iraq to form a strong government.
    A statement from Maliki's office received a copy of which "the Vice President of the Republic Nuri Kamal al-Maliki received in his office today the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq Maxim Maximov."
    During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields. They also discussed the latest political and security developments in the region and the world and the results of the recent Tehran summit in the presence of the presidents of Turkey, Russia and Iran.
    "The situation in Iraq requires the formation of a strong government capable of meeting the demands of the Iraqi people," Maliki was quoted as saying.
    He added that "the events of Basra was unfortunate and not enough to stop the acts of sabotage and burning, but must open a formal and popular inquiry to know who gave gangs freedom of movement and sabotage and why? And what are the evil goals behind them. " Ending / 25
