Parliament receives the official papers of 18 candidates for the post of President of the Republic
Parliamentary sources revealed on Sunday that 18 candidates for the post of President of the Republic submitted their official papers to the House of Representatives.
The sources said that "the door of nomination will be closed from the third hour, and otherwise will not be accepted any nominations, according to constitutional and legal texts."
So far, the Kurdish parties have not agreed on a particular candidate for the post of president of Iraq. The National Union announced the nomination of Barham Salih, but the Democrat refused to do so, while independent politician Sarwa Abdel Wahid announced her nomination for the post.
