Iraq, Monday, marks the first anniversary of the country's "liberation" of an oppressive organization, with new Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi pledging to fight corruption and reconstruction, despite the political crisis facing his government.
In a speech at the Ministry of Defense, the Prime Minister said Iraq had scored "the greatest victory over the forces of evil and terrorism, and we have won with great honor."
He pledged to work on "the return of the displaced and the reconstruction of their cities," in addition to providing "services and employment opportunities for the provinces, which contributed to the victory," stressing that "the final victory that we aspire is to achieve well-being of our people and eliminate corruption, unless we win corruption, Our victory is incomplete. "
For his part, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, in a tweet via his account on Twitter, on this occasion, saying that Iraq has achieved "military victory at great prices, what we must achieve the final victory by political victory and social and cultural end by the factors and environment of the emergence of violence and terrorism crime "He said.
    Re-opening green
Since 2014, he has dominated more than a third of Iraq's territory and has made the northern city of Mosul a "capital" of the "caliphate" he has declared after spreading across vast areas of Syria and Iraq.
For more than three years, Iraqi forces, backed by popular mobilization factions and US-led coalition aircraft, have fought bloody battles to defeat jihadists.
    Celebrations victory
Baghdad and Iraqi cities witnessed several separate celebrations in commemoration of the victory announcement, as well as military reviews. Since Sunday evening, the march of Iraqi flag-waving cars has begun to sweep the streets of Baghdad. Police cars are decorated with colored ribbons.
On Monday afternoon, the Iraqi authorities reopened the heavily fortified Green Zone in the center of the capital, which is home to diplomatic missions, has tight security measures and is closed to traffic only with permits to residents or workers inside. Its closure contributes to a heavy traffic jam in the capital.
"Today we have two days, the Feast of Victory and the Green Feast," said Hussein al-Sharafi, who came with his friends in his car decorated with Iraqi flags and balloons.
While the correspondent of tomorrow from Baghdad, Mustafa Qattan, said the opening of the Green Zone for the first time in 15 years, prompted citizens to go out and celebrate.

    Crises continue
But behind these celebrations, crises continue to exist in a country that has been at war for more than 40 years.
This anniversary comes at a time when the country is still in the middle of a political crisis, waiting for the completion of the government formation, and facing several challenges, most notably the reconstruction of the affected areas and the return of displaced persons.
To date, "more than 1.8 million Iraqis are displaced throughout the country, and about 8 million people need some form of humanitarian assistance," according to a report by the Norwegian Refugee Council.
    Hostage of interests
Therefore, after more than 5 months of the legislative elections in the country in May, is waiting for the completion of the government's composition by Abdul Mahdi, at a time faced with the opposition of a number of members of parliament to some of its candidates, especially for the main internal and defense records.
"In the absence of a political and popular base, Abdul Mahdi himself has been held hostage to the interests and political forces that the Iraqis had hoped his government would address," said Fanar Haddad, an expert on Iraq at the University of Singapore.
"The process of forming a protracted government has seen a lot of normal deals, for the population who were expecting and even demanding, a new beginning in the wake of a daunting defeat," he said.
However, observers today warn of another danger: the outbreak of an internal war between the major parties controlling the political scene, which was under one banner yesterday under the name of popular mobilization forces and contributed significantly to defeating the organization of the Islamic state.
