The official source said on Sunday that the Kurdish side made promises to Baghdad on a number of files in return for the move to release the former governor of Kirkuk, Najmuddin Karim.
The official said that "the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Massoud Barzani, intervened directly on Karim at the time of arrest," noting that "Barzani and Kurdish leaders high-level pressure on Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and senior leaders in Baghdad, to settle the file Karim, required for the Iraqi judiciary "He said.
He added that "the Kurdish side made promises on a number of outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil, and that they will take effective steps to resolve," pointing out that "these files belong to the issue of the return of Peshmerga forces to some disputed areas, which is still subject to discussion between the parties, Dialogue on Kirkuk ".
The official said that "the Kurds promised positive progress towards dialogue, on those files in the event that Baghdad contributed to the release of Karim," explaining that "the Iraqi government intervened with Interpol and the Lebanese authorities and pushed for the release of Karim, to remain under investigation pending an official position of Baghdad".
