Iraq was elected rapporteur of the Committee of Organizations at the Arab League for Coordination and Follow-up at its extraordinary meeting at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
A reporter / Mawazine News / mentioned that the assistant general manager of the Iraqi commercial attaché in Cairo, Mr. Haider Nuri, headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq during the meeting that was held for the period from 17-19 December, indicating that Iraq was elected as the decision of the organizations committee for coordination and follow-up at its extraordinary meeting at the university headquarters The Arab states in Cairo
state that this committee is one of the most important committees of the Economic and Social Council.
The organizational structure of the Arab Organization for Communication and Information Technology and the revised organizational structure of the Arab Center for Earthquake Hazards and Other Natural Disasters were approved, as well as the recommendations of the technical committee concerned with studying the unified statutes of the specialized Arab organizations.
The Council of the League of Arab States held the extraordinary session Thursday at the level of permanent delegates at the headquarters of the General Secretariat headed by His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, permanent representative of the Republic of Iraq, president of the current session, to discuss the steps and procedures that Arab countries can take regarding the illegal move by the Republic of Brazil by opening a trade office for them in Jerusalem as part of its embassy in Israel.
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States previously addressed a letter to the Brazilian Foreign Minister on November 4, 2019, in which he expressed his deep dissatisfaction with Brazil's announcement to open a commercial office in Jerusalem, warning that this step will negatively affect the historical relations between the Arab countries and Brazil, as he called on Brazil Withdrawing this decision in order to preserve Brazil's historical and stated positions on the Palestinian issue in general and refusing to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem, as this step is contrary to international legitimacy and relevant Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution No. 478 of 1980 and That any change in the features of East Jerusalem and its identity is invalid, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, in his capacity as President of the current session of the League Council, addressed a letter to the Brazilian Foreign Minister on December 12, 2019, in which he affirmed the Arab rejection of what was announced by Brazil's announcement to open a commercial office in the city of Jerusalem.
