In his speech on the sidelines of the airport groundbreaking ceremony, Al-Kazemi said that Nasiriyah International Airport will open up prospects for investment and international tourism in the province, and the project will provide many job opportunities for our people and youth in Dhi Qar.
He pointed out that the project has adopted modern plans that make it a vital airport that provides services to travelers to Dhi Qar Governorate and the surrounding governorates, investors and tourists from different countries of the world.
He added that there is great interest in Dhi Qar Governorate after the visit of His Holiness the Pope, which represented a great success for Iraq in international circles.
And the Prime Minister said: The airport attracts thousands of tourists annually, and activates the investment movement in various sectors in the governorate, and we also seek to make it an important center for air freight in the region, given the governorate’s strategic location.
He continued, "The airport contract was recently signed and we have prepared all the premises to launch its construction, and we are serious to continue supporting the project to complete it within the prescribed period."
On June 8, the Iraqi government signed a contract with its Chinese counterpart for the rehabilitation and construction of Nasiriyah International Airport.
