{Economist: Al-Furat News} The economist, Basem Jamil Antoine, commented, on Tuesday, about Iraq's progression of five places to the 137th rank, according to the statistics of the Legatum International Institute for Global Prosperity.
Antoine told {Euphrates News} that the International Legatum Institute relied in this classification on the prices of monetary inflation and inflation in the prices of basic commodities in the Iraqi market.
He added, "Any improvement in the management and distribution of funds, stopping rampant corruption, and efficient management will work to provide a better life that will reflect positively on the citizen, but this matter needs to be followed up, not for a month or two, but rather there must be continuous plans, follow-up and control in order to work on improving the situation." The livelihood and economics of the Iraqi citizen and creating job opportunities for the youth.
And the economic expert said, "The soft loans that are given to the youth in a fair way will raise the standard of living of the Iraqi citizen."
The International Legatum Institute had published a report on The National News website in which it announced that Iraq had advanced five ranks in the global prosperity index to rank 137, up from 142 it occupied in 2010, with other economic indicators also improving.
The report added, "Iraq has climbed to the ranks of various economic indicators over the past decade, as government financial reforms aimed at ensuring stability have yielded positive results, according to the Legatum Prosperity Index for 2020".
He pointed out that "the index shows that Iraq advanced five ranks to 137th out of 167 countries in 2020, up from 142nd in 2010 after it was one of the least prosperous countries."
He continued, "It recorded the highest level of its open economy, especially economic quality, access to markets and infrastructure, as well as social integration, despite the decline in the measure of people's empowerment by one point."
The Legatum Institute report emphasized, "Prosperity is much more than just wealth. It is achieved when all people have the opportunity and freedom to thrive. Prosperity supports an inclusive society, with a strong commitment to protecting fundamental freedoms and security for everyone."
According to the UK-based Legatum Research Institute, "Prosperity is driven by an open economy that harnesses ideas and talent to create sustainable pathways out of poverty, and is built by empowered people who contribute and play their part in creating a society that promotes well-being."
