{Local: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Electricity responded to an American report on the corruption of the ministry's contracts.
The ministry's spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, told {Euphrates News}: "The US Agency's report on contract corruption is incorrect and has nothing to do with reality."
And he indicated that "the report mentioned details related to the previous ministries, and we are not responsible for the previous performance of the ministries, and we have repeatedly said that all files of corruption, waste of public money and mismanagement are carried out by the supervisory authorities, the judiciary, and the integrity of holding all those who have corrupted and caused the waste of public money to be held accountable."
Moussa pointed out that "the ministry is keen to be a service-technical ministry far from political strife, and any files of this kind should be monitored and taken by the relevant authorities in this regard."
And the US Associated Press issued a report a few days ago, quoting 12 former and current officials in the Ministry of Electricity and company contractors, in which they talked about “tacit partnerships that were secured through intimidation and mutual benefit between political appointees in the ministry, political parties and companies, and ensuring that a percentage of That money ends up in the party's coffers."
According to the report, this system enabled the political elites to "receive funds under the table" from contracting companies to improve service delivery in the Ministry of Electricity. According to the report.
