General Electric Gas Energy organized the “Partnerships Forum in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia 2021”, stressing its serious and continuous commitment to strengthening cooperation and partnership relations with suppliers in the region, in the presence of representatives of about 220 institutions from more than 30 countries around the world .
On this occasion, Joseph Anis, President and CEO of GE Gas Energy, EMEA, said: “At GE, we are committed to fulfilling our commitments and responsibilities driven by our vision of creating a better world for all, and our supplier partners play a key role in achieving this goal. In 2020, GE Gas Energy collaborated with more than 650 suppliers in the region and globally in support of a number of goals and projects in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. The company has contributed to the establishment of more than 125 regional companies to meet global requirements according to the highest standards around the world in terms of safety, quality, service provision and competition.
The GE Gas Energy Partnerships Forum is held annually and enables participants to identify opportunities and address challenges to deliver cleaner, more accessible energy that meets the needs of communities across the region. This year's forum focuses in particular on adapting to the reality imposed by the "Covid-19" pandemic and developing the energy landscape to be better able to meet the need for more sustainable, reliable and affordable energy sources. The forum took place virtually over a week, and included video and training sessions, an interactive question-and-answer session, as well as personal virtual meetings between suppliers and GE's leadership teams. The forum also addressed vital issues such as safety and compliance; projects; glimpses of the supply chain and optimization channels for various needs; the benefits of inclusion and diversity within the work environment; and cyber security.
The forum also organized a "Suppliers Awards" ceremony to honor the achievements of institutions that have achieved remarkable results in the areas of safety, quality, service delivery and work culture. Al-Mawarid Company for Technical Solutions in Iraq received the honor in the “work culture” category due to its keenness to establish the values of inclusion and diversity in the work environment, providing service with great focus, adopting transparency frameworks, and applying the principles of flexible management directed to continuous improvement and development.
It is noteworthy that General Electric has been developing the electric power infrastructure in Iraq for more than 50 years. The company's work teams assisted in the construction and maintenance of power stations and network substations; In addition to the rehabilitation of power plants in the liberated areas; the use of innovations such as advanced gas path modernization solutions to improve the performance of installed gas turbines; training Iraqi cadres working in the energy sector; And so much more. In partnership with the ministries of Electricity, Finance and Planning in Iraq, GE, in cooperation with several financial institutions, has succeeded in securing $2.4 billion in financing since 2015 to support energy sector projects in the country. In addition, as part of its support for community development projects and local entrepreneurship, GE is collaborating with Capita Business Center.
