Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Oil stated that the estimated cost of a project to construct a 1,600-kilometre pipeline to increase oil exports from Iraq to Jordan is estimated at $9 billion.
The ministry said in a statement published on its Facebook page that "the project aims to add a new export outlet for oil exports, with a capacity of one million barrels per day, in exchange for increasing oil exports from the southern port to more than 3-6 million barrels per day, and according to the requirements of the global oil market in the future.
She added that the project is an investment, economic, strategic and development project that aims to strengthen economic relations with neighboring countries and the region, in a manner that serves common interests, and leads to more stability and development of relations in all fields.
The ministry continued, saying that the project would secure crude oil for local refineries in the central region and western Iraq, as well as enhance export capabilities from the northern port and the port of Aqaba, and from there to the European and African markets.
She stressed that the project is still under study and analysis, and has not been referred to a company or coalition, noting that "there are many inaccurate statements and writings issued during the recent period regarding the project."
