    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Today, Monday, the Ministry of Health announced that it is studying the inclusion of children aged 5-12 years with anti-Corona vaccines, while confirming that most infections with the Omicron mutant were mild for the vaccinated.
The director of immunization in the ministry, Firas Jabbar Al-Moussawi, said that "the ministry has made great efforts in providing vaccines, as 24 million doses have reached the country since the beginning of the pandemic."
He added that "the number of vaccinated people for the target groups exceeded 9 million and 500 thousand vaccinators," stressing that "all infections with the Omicron mutant were mild for the vaccinated."
Al-Moussawi pointed out that "the vaccination outlets have increased to 1,475 outlets in all governorates, except for the Kurdistan region, after it was 622 at the beginning of last year, to allow the largest number of citizens to receive vaccines."
And he indicated that "the total number of students who received the vaccine from the age groups between 12-18 years reached 500,000, with the possibility of increasing the numbers during the second semester."
Al-Moussawi pointed out that “the scientific advisory committee for the immunization program studied the topic of including vaccinations for young ages between 5-12 years, and the matter is currently under study, and it is hoped that the committee will meet soon to issue a decision approving the inclusion of these groups in vaccination.”
He stated that "this decision depends on several factors from the availability of data and the agreement with the World Health Organization," stressing at the same time, "there are no severe infections for young age groups, but viruses are constantly mutating due to many environmental conditions and differences."
