    Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Industry and Minerals has identified two tracks to reproduce and manufacture sulfur, while indicating that it is awaiting a government decision to present the refined sulfur production project for investment.
    The media of the Ministry of Industry said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency and followed by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "the General Company for Mishraq Sulfur of the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals is the only one specialized in extracting and purifying sedimentary mining sulfur through the Mishraq fields located in Nineveh Governorate," noting that "the reserves of Sedimentary sulfur in the Al-Mishraq fields is the first in the world, with a limit of more than 400 million tons.
    He added that "the sulfur industry started since 1971, and the sulfur produced in the General Company for Sulfur Al-Mishraq played a major role in supporting the national economy through what is exported to neighboring countries, as well as supporting the local fertilizer industry," noting that "the result of the occupation in 2003 and the sabotage acts that The occupation was accompanied by the cessation of sulfur production in the company."
    He added, "After 2003, our company prepared a feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the refined sulfur production line, but due to the high costs required by the rehabilitation process for the purpose of re-producing sulfur, our company started the first stages of rehabilitating the project through the allocations granted on the investment plan starting from the year 2010. He explained that "in light of the amounts of allocations at the time and starting in 2010, the company has set priorities for importing and purchasing materials, machinery and equipment according to the specialization of those materials and the size of the amounts allocated to the company on the investment plan."
    He pointed out that "the plan for the import and purchase of materials, machinery and equipment included the purchase of specialized sulfur wells drilling rigs number (2), and the purchase of a specialized sulfur purification unit," noting that "in the second phase of the allocations granted, our company purchased the unit of steam boilers, water pumps and specialized pipes, and it was among the It is hoped to complete the preparation and rehabilitation of all production lines and the trial operation of the project in 2015."
    He pointed out that "as a result of the entry of ISIS terrorist gangs into Nineveh Governorate in 2014, most of the materials and equipment that had previously been purchased were stolen, as well as sabotage and destruction of the company's infrastructure," stressing that "in light of the foregoing, our company has established and since the liberation of Nineveh Governorate from In 2017, ISIS gangs prepared an economic and technical feasibility study, as well as preparing an integrated investment file for the refined sulfur production project in its current reality.
    And he added, "The project has stopped its presentation as an investment opportunity based on the directives of the Prime Minister's Office in their numbered letter (M.R.O/D6/20/3163 on February 20, 2020), which includes the Prime Minister's directive to leave the decision regarding the investment of mineral resources for the next government. Noting that "the company is still waiting for the appropriate decision regarding the project."
    He pointed out that "for the purpose of resuming the production and manufacture of sulfur, our company proposes one of the first two tracks, which is to provide the necessary allocations on the investment plan for the purpose of completing the installation and installation of the previously purchased equipment, as well as preparing and rehabilitating the rest of the industrial areas for the production line of refined sulfur, which cost up to (179) billion dinars, and the other Obtaining central government approvals to present the project as an investment opportunity for investors.
