, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah, announced on Thursday that the parliament has received the names of 40 candidates for the post of President of the Republic.
Abdullah said, in a statement reported by local media, that "the nomination process for the post of President of the Republic has ended, and the names of 40 candidates for this position have been submitted."
He added, "Parliament will proceed with the procedures by sending these names to the concerned authorities (integrity, criminal record, accountability and justice) for the purpose of auditing, and after the completion of the audit process, Parliament will announce the names in general."
Today, Thursday, a member of the House of Representatives, Amir Al-Maamouri, said that setting a session to vote on the presidential candidate is "still early" because the period of verifying the candidates' information has not yet been completed. Ended 29/N33
