On Sunday, MP from the State of Law coalition, Alia Nassif, identified two reasons for circulating warnings about the possibility of dissolving the House of Representatives in the event that the President of the Republic is not elected within the constitutional deadline, which ends next April 6.
Nassif said, "According to the Federal Court's decision to open the nomination door for the position of President of the Republic for one time only No. 24 of 2022, before the Presidency of the House of Representatives for a period of 30 days in accordance with Article 72 / second of the Iraqi Constitution from the date of March 6 to April 6, during which a president is elected Republic".
And she added, "What is rumored about the warning that the House of Representatives violates the constitution and that it should be dissolved in the event the president is not elected, stands behind two reasons, the first is to try to pressure the political forces to adhere to the specified date and not to exceed the constitutional deadlines, and secondly to intimidate some who fear returning to the option of early elections in the event of dissolution of Parliament.
