The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naim Al-Ghazi, stressed, on Wednesday, the need to activate laws to facilitate procedures for granting entry visas to foreign investors, and to create an environment that supports attracting capital to enter the Iraqi market.
A statement by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, a copy of which was received by Mawazine News, stated that this came while he chaired the consultative meeting on facilitating the procedures for granting entry visas to investors and businessmen to Iraq to strengthen their role in revitalizing the private sector, provided that those facilities are in accordance with specific legal contexts. .
The meeting reviewed, according to the statement, "the procedures followed, the time frame for granting entry visas that does not exceed (6) days through the single window, and the entry visas granted by Iraq to more than (40) countries directly while entering its territory, in addition to the authorization granted by the Ministry of Interior. The Iraqi ambassadors in a number of countries regarding the validity of granting visas directly, while the work and residence permits for foreign workers and the possibility of controlling the recent leakage operations were discussed.
The meeting concluded with “a set of recommendations, most notably controlling mechanisms of cooperation between all concerned institutions, and emphasizing the National Investment Commission, regarding the inclusion of feasibility studies for the numbers of foreign workers and the quantities of materials required; In order to preserve the social and economic balance between Iraqi and foreign labor, and to stress measures to reduce the phenomenon of labor leakage inside the country, in addition to holding a consultative meeting that includes the Businessmen Council; To develop solutions that help attract foreign capital.
