The Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, announced today, Thursday, that the ministry will continue to update the population policies in Iraq, in a way that contributes to transforming the current and expected population increases into a productive force that represents a positive driver and a key player in the development process, in order to achieve raising economic growth rates and population welfare factors. the social and cultural.
While chairing the second meeting of the team to update the national document on population policies, Al-Najm said: "There are many challenges that should be addressed, through the development of appropriate programs and policies to address these problems, among them, attention to people with disabilities, special needs, the elderly and children, stressing the adoption of policies actionable with regard to improving the quality of family life, enhancing the health conditions of mothers and family members, and reducing maternal, infant and under-five mortality rates.
He pointed out, "The population policies that the Ministry of Planning is working on give attention to education, health, housing, empowering women and youth, as well as addressing the causes of internal and external migration, in addition to protecting the environment and facing climate changes, and their effects on the population."
And he indicated that "the media will have a pivotal role in the process of social awareness and changing behavioral patterns in living."
