On Friday morning, Omar Al-Waeli, head of the Border Ports Authority, conducted an inspection tour of a number of border crossings in Basra Governorate.
In a video clip seen by Mawazine News, Al-Waeli said that "this visit is an inspection visit to the border ports in Basra Governorate, starting from the Safwan port and then the ports of the northern, central and southern Umm Qasr port and the Shalamjah port."
He added that "this visit aims to supervise the Cabinet Resolution No. (72) for the year 2022 and Council of Ministers Resolution No. 109 for the year 2022, which includes government measures to confront the rise in prices."
He pointed out that "work at the Shalamcheh port continues for 24 hours, and the wheels are continuing to bring goods into Basra and all provinces in order to maintain prices in the Iraqi market."
