Kurdish politician Adnan Othman confirmed, on Thursday, that the killings in the Kurdistan region have increased significantly, due to the spread of uncontrolled weapons in the region's cities.
Othman said that "the killings increased in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, due to the widespread spread of unarmed weapons among the parties of the authority and their families, and clan conflicts have appeared more in recent months."
He added that "the recurrence of killings and clan disputes in the various cities of the region, is due to the spread and carrying of arms by supporters of the ruling parties, so a major security campaign must be carried out and licenses to bear arms should not be granted except for necessity and in accordance with regulations and laws."
And this week, three people were killed in Sulaymaniyah, including a restaurant owner, while the security services opened an investigation into the incident.
