The former Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, ignited a new uproar on social media after his recent statements in which he spoke about the failure of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to provide aid to his country in its crises.
Tweeters on Twitter circulated an excerpt from an interview that Qardahi gave two weeks ago to an Iraqi channel, in which he says, in the context of his talk about the crisis that his statements caused in part: "Our Gulf brothers say we will leave Lebanon, they left Lebanon a long time ago."
Kordahi added, "Lebanon, in all its crises that it has gone through, no one has given it a drop of water. We have been going through crises for ten years from fuels such as gasoline, diesel and financial crises, and no one has looked at us."
He continued, "No one sent us a tanker of gasoline or diesel to make people feel warm, even for their allies," noting that "the Gulf Cooperation Council countries were (looking for the opportunity) to get out of Lebanon, and it came through his statements."
Earlier, Qardahi had sparked widespread anger in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, after describing the military campaign of the Saudi-backed coalition in Yemen as "aggression" and believed that the Houthis were "defending themselves."
