To end waste and corruption.. A deputy proposes electronically transferring ration sums to the citizen

On Saturday, the independent representative of Diyala Governorate, Salah Zaini, called on the Federal Ministry of Trade to transfer the ration card funds allocated to each citizen into cash, to end suspicions of corruption in the purchase, distribution and storage operations.
The ration is a limited package of basic foodstuffs, distributed by the Iraqi Ministry of Trade monthly at a symbolic price to everyone who lives in Iraq, as it began distributing it in September 1990 to alleviate the consequences of the economic embargo imposed by the UN Security Council by Resolution No. 661 on the sixth of August 1990 on Iraq as a result of the invasion of Kuwait.
The vocabulary of the ration card is a basic food source for the majority of Iraqi families because poverty and limited income eat into each other day after day an additional morsel of vulnerable groups in society, and in return corruption and lack of oversight gnaw on these humble vocabulary.
Zainy explained, "The disbursement of these amounts through electronic payment cards (MasterCard), would eliminate all doors of corruption and protect public money from waste and loss."
He pointed out that there are "suspicions of corruption surrounding the purchase, distribution, storage and destruction of damaged materials in the ration card management file," wondering about "the real statistics included in the ration card and those withheld from them."
The representative pointed out that there are “parliamentary objections from independents to the Food Security Law, and crucial issues concerning the Iraqi people and their power from the ration card in particular,” adding, “We did not vote on the Food Security Law, except after correcting some of its paragraphs despite our reservations about the amounts of the ration card.” .
