Today, Tuesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had received 738 boxes in a new shipment of archives and property dating back to the invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
In a statement, it said that it had received those boxes containing media materials belonging to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, in addition to an Amiri sword dating back to the era of the former Emir of the country, Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and two historical copies of the Qur'an, in addition to other properties owned by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.
While the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Qahtan Taha Khalaf, affirmed his country's keenness to end this file.
He pointed out that the ministry, in cooperation with other Iraqi institutions, including the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, sought to return a number of Kuwaiti properties and archives according to campaigns it had carried out in previous years.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry quoted the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab World Affairs, Nasser Al-Qahtani, as appreciating the Iraqi efforts "to continue handing over the archives belonging to the State of Kuwait, praising the bilateral relations between the two countries."
