Shafaq News/ The local government of Maysan Governorate announced, on Thursday, Canada's desire to invest in various economic and development sectors, strengthen governance and manage local powers.
The media office of Governor Ali Douai stated, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that the latter received the Canadian ambassador to Iraq Gregory Galligan and his accompanying delegation, and during the meeting, they discussed joint cooperation between the province and the State of Canada in the field of investment, capacity development, education, agriculture, marshes and other sectors.
He pointed out that the issue of governance, decentralization and the transfer of powers to the governorates and the problems and obstacles encountered in transferring them to the governorates were discussed.
And he indicated that the governor reviewed the province's capabilities of natural resources, raw materials, human resources and expertise in all fields, in addition to Maysan's industrial and agricultural characteristics and its specificity in many areas.
Douai stressed the need for cooperation and follow-up to achieve the desired goals of this visit, indicating that there is a desire by the local government to expand relations between Maysan Governorate and the State of Canada.
For his part, the Canadian ambassador expressed his readiness to cooperate with Maysan Governorate in various sectors, as the governorate is attractive to foreign investors.
