The economic expert, Basem Jamil Antoine, said, on Saturday, that Egypt has solved the “problem” of electricity with less than the amounts that Iraq spent on the electrical system.
Antoine said in an interview with "Shafaq News" and followed by "Economy News", that "the problem of electricity in Iraq is not a dilemma, but rather needs a real will and effective follow-up and to stop the rampant corruption in the national electrical system," noting that "it is possible to solve it scientifically after reducing corruption." And serious follow-up by clean agencies and prevent the interference of politicians in this process."
He added, "Estimates indicate that the sums spent on the electrical system exceeded 80 billion dollars, while Egypt solved the problem with less than these sums," noting by saying, "If we invested local energy from the gas produced in this process, we would have compensated for a lot of electricity losses."
