    Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce announced the end date of distributing the food basket, while revealing a study to develop a mechanism to withhold the ration card for wealthy families.
    The Ministry's media office said, "The Food Security Law financed the food basket until (12/31) and ends with its date, and it is possible to provide emergency storage for a period of two to three months for the next year through a transfer between the exchange doors and according to the 12/1 exchange mechanism."
    He added that "there is a study to put in place a mechanism to withhold the ration card from the affluent families, in coordination with the ministries and state departments, to determine its withholding according to the citizen's monthly income, and to adopt an electronic card to prepare the card, taking advantage of the amounts to improve it and add other materials to the food basket to be an integrated basket for the citizen, especially poor families."
    He pointed out that "coordination with the ministries of the state and the Ministry of Commerce represented by the General Company for Food Trade, with directing the ration card agents to work with an electronic food card, through which the card is withheld according to the standards and capabilities of the citizen by relying on purchasing from the local market at appropriate prices and families with limited capabilities benefit from the basket." With price monitoring by regulators and controlling the market.”
