    The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Britain, Karwan Jamal Taher, stated that "the British Cabinet confirmed the invitation of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani" to participate in the funeral ceremony of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

    Taher said in an exclusive interview with the correspondent of the Rudaw Media Network, Sunday (18 September 2022), that "two figures from Iraq were invited to participate in the farewell ceremony of the late British Queen, one of whom is Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region," adding that "this is of great importance, because The British Council of Ministers confirmed the participation of the representative of the Kurdistan Region.

    The representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Britain described the ceremony as a "very big event" for Britain and the world, noting that "a global gathering in which leaders of 150 countries in the world will participate, the leaders will meet there and are expected to discuss some political issues."

    Taher added, "The presence of the representative of the Kurdistan Region shows the depth of the relationship between the two parties, which has developed further over the past years."

    After arriving in Britain to participate in the farewell ceremony of the late Queen Elizabeth II, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, this evening, Sunday evening, accepted an official invitation to King Charles III of Britain, along with leaders and leaders of world countries, accompanied by the Iraqi ambassador to Britain, to participate in the reception ceremony Guests at Buckingham Palace in London.

    According to a statement issued by the Kurdistan Region Presidency, this evening, "Nechirvan Barzani offered his condolences and those of the people and government of the Kurdistan Region to His Majesty King Charles III, the royal family and the people and government of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth of Nations, once again expressing his sympathy and sharing his grief with them."

    For his part, King Charles III expressed his thanks and appreciation to President Nechirvan Barzani for his participation in the funeral and farewell ceremonies for Queen Elizabeth II.

    Participants will attend the ceremonies at 11:00 London time and 13:00 Erbil time, beginning with two minutes of silence across the country and then chanting the name of the King.

    After that, the Queen's coffin will be carried on a march through the streets of the British capital to Windsor, where the Queen's body will be taken to St George's Chapel, passing through the magnificent "Long Walk" lane leading to Windsor Castle.

    Britain declared Tuesday (September 19, 2022) an official holiday in the country, so that the British could participate or watch the funeral.
