    Today, Monday, the Supreme Judicial Council announced the control of cyber-extortion crimes, while determining the punishment for its perpetrators.
    The third Karkh investigative judge, Saima Naim, said, "The Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 treated all crimes," noting that "electronic extortion crimes are considered crimes of the age, and their treatments are carried out through criminal procedures by reaching the blackmailer's number, and in most cases, the blackmailer's number is reached. To him in flagrante delicto in coordination with the security authorities and the decisions of the competent investigative judge and his arrest.”
    She explained, "These crimes affect the security of society and have spread in society in the recent period after the development of communication sites, telecommunications and the Internet, but they are under control," stressing the need to "pass the cybercrime law as it supports the security and judicial agencies to arrest the accused."
    She added, "The criminal aspect and the provisions imposed on these crimes include severity in holding the perpetrators accountable, especially as they affect social morals and violate the law," noting that "the judiciary participated in preparing the cybercrime law and addressed many of the missing paragraphs in the Penal Code, since social networking sites protect It is an obstacle to apprehending the perpetrators of crimes.
    And she continued, "Through the intelligence and security agencies and the decisions of a judge, as well as passing the law and removing protection from the perpetrators of crimes on the communication sites, the perpetrators of these crimes can be reached and held accountable."
    She pointed out that "determining the penalty depends on providing the conditions for the crime. The penalty for cybercrime is calculated in accordance with Article 430 of criminal offenses, and it cannot be calculated from minor misdemeanours," stressing that "
    Naim stressed, "The laws and penalties are included in the Iraqi Penal Code, and the law did not overlook any crime."
