, Minister of Industry and Minerals Khaled Battal Al-Najm issued directives, on Tuesday, to advance the reality of mixed sector companies, while stressing the need to classify the problems of the mixed sector and the possibility of solving them.
The ministry stated in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of it, that "the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Khaled Batal Al-Najm, chaired, today, the first meeting with the authorized directors and chairmen of the board of directors of the mixed sector companies, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Planning, the general managers of the economic and control departments, and a number of officials in the ministry." .
The star pointed to "the problems and challenges that faced the Iraqi industrial sector in general after the transition to an open market economy," pointing out "the need to classify the problems of the mixed sector and the possibility of solving them, whether within the competence of the ministry or the Council of Ministers, or need new legislation."
He stressed, "the necessity of granting the public, private and mixed industrial sectors some privileges to enable them to advance and compete."
The ministry indicated, according to the statement, that "the themes addressed by the meeting:
- Presentation by the concerned departments of the ministry on the current reality of the mixed sector companies and the percentage of contributors to them.
- A review by the authorized directors and heads of boards of directors on the activities of the mixed sector companies and a number of problems that suffer from it. Including these companies, the most prominent of which is the accumulation of debts related to taxes and retirement, debts owed by a number of ministries, and the demand for loans to modernize and develop production lines and include them with tax facilities and others.
She pointed out, "Al-Najm directed, during the meeting, the following:
- Presenting a comprehensive report on the details of debts owed to companies and owed by other ministries in order to include them in an explicit text within the federal budget.
- Directing official letters to the Prime Ministry, the Central Bank, and the Ministerial Council for the Economy to include mixed sector companies with the Central Bank’s initiative to grant interest-free loans and to address the Industrial Bank to open accounts for overdraft mixed sector companies by guaranteeing the stock ratio for the purpose of purchasing raw materials and production requirements and creating production lines for the development of factories.
- The minister promised to adopt the issue of taxes and debts by seeking with the competent authorities and approaching the Ministerial Council of the Economy to grant the mixed sector companies tax allowances or postpone the payment.
- Forming a committee to recalculate the capital of mixed sector companies and to involve the mixed sector in the technical and coordinating committees.
- Activating the marketing aspect and keeping pace with the development in production
