Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani chaired, on Saturday, in the Samarra district, a meeting of the Samarra Law Committee, the Capital of Islamic Civilization, which is chaired by the governor of Salah al-Din.
Al-Sudani listened to "a briefing given by the committee regarding the measures taken to advance the reality of Samarra and upgrade it, to stand on obstacles to implementing the law and to enable the committee to carry out its duties, and to overcome the problems that faced the formation of the preparatory committee for declaring Samarra the capital of Iraq for Islamic civilization."
The Prime Minister referred, according to a statement from his office, which Mawazine News received, to "the religious and historical importance of the city of Samarra, and the symbol it represents of peaceful coexistence between the components, in addition to its economic, social and cultural importance."
