Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, the Kurdish leader, Massoud Barzani, and the German Consul General in Erbil, Klaus Streicher, stressed the need to implement the Sinjar agreement concluded between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government.
Barzani's headquarters stated in a statement that the Kurdish leader received today, at the Salah al-Din Resort, the German Consul General in Erbil.

The statement stated that during the meeting, views were exchanged on the political situation in the region in general and Iraq in particular, and shed light on the relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and the work program of the new Iraqi government.
According to the statement, the two sides stressed during the meeting the implementation of the agreement between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement. In order to restore stability to the Sinjar region and end the displacement of its people and return them to their original home.
The statement indicated that the threat of terrorism was another topic of the meeting, as the German consul in Erbil confirmed that his country is still a partner and supporter of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in confronting and combating terrorism, and that the stability and progress of the Kurdistan Region is of particular importance to the stability and security of the region.
On August 3, 2014, ISIS elements attacked the Sinjar district, west of Nineveh Governorate, killing and injuring a large number of Yazidis, as well as displacing them and destroying their areas.
This is despite the kidnapping of thousands more, mostly Yazidi women and children, the fate of many of whom is still unknown.
There are about 300,000 Yazidis in the camps for the displaced, most of them in the Kurdistan Region, while only more than 20,000 families have returned to the Sinjar district, which has the majority of followers of this sect, after its liberation from the grip of ISIS.
In mid-2014, the extremist organization invaded vast regions and cities estimated at a third of Iraq's area, before the Iraqi forces, backed by the international coalition led by the United States of America, were able to recover it from the grip of the extremist organization in a three-year military operation.
It is noteworthy that Baghdad and Erbil had reached, on October 9, 2020, an agreement to normalize the situation in Sinjar, which provides for joint administration of the judiciary in terms of administrative, security and service aspects, but this agreement has not yet been effectively implemented for political reasons, according to officials in the Kurdistan Region. .
