A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed amendments to the draft federal budget law for the year 2023.
Committee member Mueen Al-Kazemi said in a televised statement this evening: “The Economic Ministerial Council made amendments to the budget in its last meeting, and the Cabinet will approve them in the coming sessions.”
And he indicated that “the Ministries of Planning and Finance have completed the draft budget, with its investment and operational parts, and it is assumed that the government will hand over the draft budget to Parliament after the end of its legislative recess on January 8th.”
Al-Kazemi explained, "The consensus between the political forces and the visit of the Kurdish delegations to Baghdad resolved many differences, and the blocs have a desire to approve the budget to start work and complete projects in a way that reflects on the service of citizens."
And he continued, “We hope that the blocs will cooperate in a way that leads to approving the budget in the middle of next February, so that the government will start at the beginning of March to complete projects and start others.”
Al-Kadhimi stressed, "The political consensus will have a role in accelerating the budget legislation, and we hope through it to implement the government program presented by the Prime Minister."
