Today, Thursday, the Sudanese Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a, announced the details of his visit to Germany, while indicating that it will include the signing of memorandums of understanding in the electricity sector.
Al-Sudani said in a press conference held today that "our visit to Germany came due to its economic and technological importance," noting that "our delegation includes the ministers of foreign affairs, industry and immigration, in addition to industrial businessmen who have completed projects and a group of advisors."
"We will sign memorandums of understanding with Germany in the electricity sector," he added, noting that "there will be initiatives in development programs, vocational training and education."
The Prime Minister added that "there are great investment opportunities in associated gas projects," pointing out that "there will be financial and banking cooperation with the German side to improve the economy and industry."
Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani considered his upcoming visit to Germany an affirmation of the strength of the political and economic relations between Baghdad and Berlin.
Al-Sudani said in an article that "his official visit to Germany is an affirmation of the strength of the political and economic relations between Baghdad and Berlin," pointing out that "his government's program focuses on strengthening good governance and taking swift and decisive measures in combating corruption."
He added, "The German experience is of great benefit to us in supporting the Integrity Commission and developing procedures, strategies and policies to combat corruption," stressing, "We aim to enhance trade exchanges with Germany and raise them to a level commensurate with the bilateral relations between the two countries."
He pointed out that "building a strong economy gives Iraqi youth an opportunity to invest," noting that "no government can force migrants to return."
He continued, "We will propose to the German government the formation of a joint committee to pave the way for the voluntary return of Iraqis," stressing, "We will also work closely with Germany on sensitive issues such as deportations and carefully examine each case according to the law and agreements between the two countries."
He pointed out that "Berlin contributed about $3.4 billion to development and reconstruction efforts in Iraq," noting that "the German Agency for International Cooperation has helped more than 37,000 Iraqis find jobs or start their own businesses, including 30 percent of women."
And he indicated that "Germany contributes effectively to the Reform, Recovery and Reconstruction Fund for Iraq," noting that "the areas of cooperation between Iraq and Germany are multifaceted."
He pointed out that "Siemens is working to provide electricity to about 23 million Iraqis through 13 power stations across the country," explaining that "these power stations are the cornerstone of the reconstruction of Iraq because they are essential for the country's economic development."
