Today, Sunday, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, presented a briefing on the results of the high-ranking government delegation's visit to Baghdad and the meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani.
A statement by the regional government stated that “the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government received the Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, General Matthew MacFarlane, to discuss the latest developments and developments in Iraq and the region, in addition to discussing the continuation of supporting the Peshmerga forces and supporting them in confronting terrorism and the threats posed by ISIS terrorists, and the importance of Border security protection.
The Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria referred to “the progress made regarding security coordination and cooperation between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army in combating terrorism, especially in the past year, stressing the importance of strengthening this coordination in order to bridge the existing security gaps in the areas covered by Article 140 of the Constitution.”
Barzani thanked, according to the statement, "the United States and the coalition forces for their continuous support for the Peshmerga forces in the war on terrorism, and for the reforms in the joints of the Peshmerga Ministry."
He also gave "a briefing on the results of the high government delegation's visit to Baghdad and the meeting with the federal prime minister, especially with regard to strengthening cooperation and security coordination between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army."
