Parliament is pressing to host the governor of the central bank because of the dollar crisis

Baghdad / Hussein Hatem
The House of Representatives is still throwing the ball of the rise in dollar prices into the goal of the Central Bank of Iraq, blaming the bank governor for responsibility, while parliamentarians collected parliamentary signatures to host the governor to find out the repercussions of the dollar's rise.
And the exchange rates, as of yesterday evening, Sunday, reached 164,100 Iraqi dinars, compared to 100 dollars in the local markets.
A member of the House of Representatives, Asaad Al-Bazuni, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that “the crisis of the dollar’s rise has reached stages that cannot be tolerated.”
Al-Bazuni added, “Most of the members of the House of Representatives submitted signed requests to the Presidency of Parliament; To host the governor of the Central Bank, and some of them demanded to host the Minister of Finance.
And he stressed, “The need for the governor of the Central Bank to attend the next session of the House of Representatives; To find out the causes and repercussions of the rise in the dollar, and the development of solutions.
Al-Bazuni pointed out, "The high dollar exchange rates cast a shadow on the poor and low-income classes."
In turn, the other member of the House of Representatives, Aref Al-Hamami, said in an interview with (Al-Mada), that “the House of Representatives is awaiting measures by the government and the Central Bank regarding the rise in dollar prices in the local market.”
Al-Hamami added, "The policy of the Central Bank of Iraq is primarily responsible for the rise in the exchange rate, in addition to external interference."
And he added, "Parliament is following the government's work and does not want to be a pressure party that disturbs the government's work."
He explained, "Members of the House of Representatives collected signatures to host the governor of the Central Bank, but the latter was unable to have obligations preventing attendance."
And Al-Hamami indicated that “the price of the dollar is in a gradual and continuous increase, and it could reach 170 in the absence of new, studied steps to control this matter.” Official authorities to avoid the tax.
He added that "custom evasion and the purchase of the dollar through exchange offices turned the dollar towards an unprecedented rise, and the government must work to end this phenomenon urgently in order to absorb the rise as well as ending tax evasion."
Shinkali pointed out that "the government is also required to open the tax credit and the electronic window urgently, as well as dialogue with the US Federal Bank to prevent speculation in the markets."
For his part, member of the Economy and Investment Committee, Yasser Al-Husseini, said, "Most of the independent deputies support the Sudanese government, but so far its features have not been clear due to a number of internal and external challenges."
He added, "The internal challenges are represented by the currency auction and forged bills to sell, in which most banks intervene," adding, "As for the external challenges, it lies in the enormous pressure on the government by some countries, because of which, until now, the draft budget has not come to parliament."
Al-Husseini continued, "The government's measures are a small part of the solution to this issue," noting that "the period of the government of the current prime minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, suffers from pressures, most of which are political, and the current conditions are similar to the time of the terrorist al-Qaeda and ISIS, as they target Iraqi thought and affect the main nerve." For Iraq, it is the economy.
Al-Husseini explained, “The current crisis is an opportunity to get rid of crises in general by reorganizing the sale of currency, organizing banks, and their work, and the government must exploit them,” stressing that “if the government is serious about dealing with the dollar crisis, it must not make America use the pressure card that it has from Through the dollar and the economy.”
