Production touches 4.7 million barrels per day

The Ministry of Oil stated that oil production amounted to 4.7 million barrels per day, while the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee confirmed that Iraq's import of derivatives exceeded 60 percent of the actual need.
Yesterday, Saturday, in Baghdad, the activities of the second oil and gas conference were launched, in the presence of major international and local companies, and representatives of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions present in Iraq. The conference will continue for two days in a row.
The head of the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, Haibat al-Halbousi, said during the conference, which was attended by "Al-Sabah", that "the size of the government's dependence on oil imports to support the federal budget is very large, which pushes us towards developing the reality of the oil industry in the country, and here all parties must join hands towards developing the oil sector and keeping it away from political tensions.
He added, "Iraq imports 60% of its need for oil derivatives, and this requires that we reduce imports by developing the reality of the oil industry in all its joints, up to the filtration axis, which works to supply the local market with its needs of all derivatives."
He referred to "the agreement with the Minister of Oil to embark on the fifth licensing round, and work to invest the Crutch field," pointing to "the importance of supporting the oil exploration company with advanced technology, and training its competencies in an optimal manner."
Adviser to the Minister of Oil, Abdel-Baqi Khalaf, said: "The country's production of crude oil touches 4.7 million barrels per day, and is in continuous development," pointing to "the launch of the fifth licensing round in 6 border sites."
He added, "The middle of this year will witness the operation of two gas production units, and there is hard work in the Mansourieh and Akkas fields."
