The prime minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, outlined what he described as the "first challenge" to Iraq.
Al-Sudani said in a press interview, which will be broadcast later tomorrow, that: "Corruption is the number one challenge, not ISIS."
Al-Sudani stressed that: "There are no requirements for us, neither from America nor from others," as he put it.
And the Prime Minister stressed that "the political kitchen is the cabinet, and there is no other place," according to what he said.
And the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, said on more than one occasion that his government is determined to combat corruption, "noting that" the problem of corruption during the past years is that it was politically protected, and this is what prevented previous governments from working to eradicate it.
But Al-Sudani said that his government is taking measures to confront rampant corruption in Iraq through state institutions and the law," stressing "the need not to confront corruption in a selective manner or for purposes related to settling narrow scores with political opponents," he said.
