An expert calls for a shift towards a green economy

The international investment expert, Eng. Khaled Al-Jabri, called for "transformation into a green economy in light of its global growth, and the formation of its own council to be in harmony with the country's legislation and laws."
He said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The shift to alternative energy will change the shape of the Iraqi industry," while he saw that transportation means drain large amounts of energy, especially oil, and there was an urgent need to find alternative radical solutions in this regard, while he stressed "the importance of supporting green energy." which will dominate the global market in the near future.”
And Al-Jabri indicated that "Iraq has a great opportunity to invest in the green economy, because it is committed to reducing emissions by ½ according to the climate agreement in the case of support through foreign investment and from the international community. We will resort to reducing emissions by more than 13%, and this is an entry point for new industries."
He pointed out that "economic transformations call for us to adapt legally, procedurally and practically to this transformation, and this does not mean that Iraq will lose its oil exports or witness a decrease in job opportunities, on the contrary, its oil and gas industry will flourish and everything related to energy to be within the international system that supports the green economy." ".
He pointed out that "the support of national organizations and institutions and the private sector is necessary to increase environmental awareness to meet the climate challenges facing Iraq, especially since our country is one of the fragile countries in the environmental situation, but it is remarkable that Iraq is not the reason for this matter, but rather there are external causes that made it in this situation." . He urged "converting the historic center of Baghdad, the beating heart of the city, extending from Tahrir Square and the eastern gate to the great gate and all the river branches, into projects of an environmental nature, and the importance of properly investing the Tigris River, treating water, improving transportation in this region, and giving it the character of transforming the green economy by introducing Improvements in it are environmentally and administratively compatible, as well as combating climate change that Iraq suffers from. He called for the formation of a council called the Green Business Council.
He stressed that "the climate agreement that was signed in Sharm el-Sheikh, among its outputs, is the establishment of a fund for losses and damages from the national income, which would increase compensation in this field."
