The Ministry of Electricity announced, on Sunday, the intention to install contracts for meter readers to ensure their rights.
The ministry said in a statement, "The Finance Committee, headed by Representative Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members, hosted today the advanced staff in the Ministry of Electricity to discuss the requirements related to the ministry's budget and the expected revenues and the actual achieved from the collection service, to finance and implement strategic projects."
She added, "The committee discussed the work of the ministry's companies, self-financing, and the actual realization of the ministry, in addition to the amounts of employee compensation, service and commodity supplies, and finding suitable solutions for contracts for meter readers through the amounts allocated to them, as well as the energy sales file."
For his part, "the ministry staff reviewed the plan prepared for the disbursement of financial amounts and allocations included in the budget law," pointing to "a tendency to install contracts for metrology readers to guarantee their rights and activate service collection."
The staff explained, "The size of the sums that the ministry needs to import Iranian fuel and energy to fill the shortfall in electricity supply."
The committee stressed "the need to find real solutions to the problems facing the electricity sector, the need to issue controls on energy use, the importance of importing devices that save electricity consumption, and the ministry's plan to rationalize consumption and move towards investing in solar energy, in addition to preparing adjacent areas for basic design and delivery of services."
The committee requested "detailed data on issues related to the ministry and the texts proposed by the Ministry of Electricity to be added to the draft federal budget law to ensure the public interest."
