Shafaq News / The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, expressed his regret over the past few days in the Iraqi parliament, which violated the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people, while stressing that the Kurdistan Region is not a red line, but rather a "death line".
Barzani said, in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, that "what happened in the past few days in the Iraqi parliament of irresponsible and unconstitutional attempts aimed at deepening the problems and violating the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people, is unfortunate."

He added, "Everyone knows that there are dialogues that led to constructive agreements between the constituent parties of the (state administration) coalition to remove obstacles and solve problems. The Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government have reached a good and positive agreement to solve the dilemmas, in order to consolidate the pillars of stability in the country and serve the people." .
Barzani referred to what some political parties did of "ingratitude and denial in an irresponsible manner with the aim of undermining the entity of the Kurdistan Region," stressing that those attempts "failed and were neglected."
He pointed out that "what happened in the past few days in the Iraqi parliament has removed the mask and revealed the true face of the (chauvinist) parties and their bargains, and those who do not respect their pledges and signatures, they do not respect the constitution."
And the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party continued: "Now that the budget bill has been approved in the Iraqi parliament, I hope that its provisions will be implemented in good faith."
He concluded by saying, "The Kurdistan Region is the property of the Kurdistan people, and the product of the blood, sacrifices and struggle of the Kurdish people," adding: "We strongly oppose any reckless attempt that seeks to bypass and undermine the entity of the Kurdistan Region. For us, the Kurdistan Region is not only a red line, but also a death line. Either Kurdistan or annihilation.

Yesterday, Saturday, Parliament voted on the controversial Article 14, which is related to the Kurdistan Region, after an objection from the Democratic Bloc to add a paragraph that it said does not treat the Kurdistan Region as a unified entity.
Paragraph 8 in Article 14 states, “In the event that the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan Region are not paid, these dues are transferred from the federal government to the governorates directly.
Earlier today, the Kurdistan Democratic Party decided to accept the ratification of the tripartite federal budget in its current form, and confirmed the failure of what it called the "intervention plot" in the Kurdistan Region.
On Sunday evening, the Iraqi parliament passed about twenty articles of the federal budget law for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025, before taking a break to complete the vote later in the day.
So far, he has postponed passing Articles 15, 16, 17, 42, 43, and 50 of the entire law, and voted on Articles 43 to Article 63, provided that the rest will be completed later.
On March 13, the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the draft budget law for the current year and the years 2024 and 2025, and referred it to the House of Representatives, "Parliament" for ratification.
