    [size=45][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed that Baghdad must deal with the Kurdistan Region as a federal region, stressing that the continuation of disputes between the two parties is not in Iraq's interest.[/size]
    [size=45]During his meeting with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, on Monday (September 11, 2023), Nechirvan Barzani discussed “dialogue to resolve the differences between Erbil and Baghdad, especially on budget issues, the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees, and the situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”[/size]
    [size=45]The two sides stressed “the importance of having a constructive dialogue between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in order to reach a common understanding and solution to the outstanding problems between them in a way that guarantees the constitutional rights of all and preserves the security and political stability of the country.”[/size]
    [size=45]In turn, Nechirvan Barzani stressed “the importance of implementing the federal system in Iraq as stated in the constitution,” noting that “the Kurdistan Region must be treated as a federal region.”[/size]
    [size=45]He stressed that “the continuation of problems and disagreements between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government is not in the country’s interest.”[/size]
    [size=45]The President of the Kurdistan Region and the American Ambassador agreed on “the necessity and importance of resolving problems and securing the financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the law and agreements.”[/size]
    [size=45]They emphasized “cohesion and unity of ranks between the political parties in the Kurdistan Region, especially between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.”[/size]
    [size=45]In this context, the two sides discussed “opportunities to employ foreign and local capital and investments and strengthen the private sector in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the conditions of the Yazidis, and the importance of implementing the agreement to normalize the conditions of Sinjar between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government,” during another axis of the meeting.[/size]
