Member of the Transport and Communications Committee in the House of Representatives, Karwan Ali Yaruwis, revealed today, Saturday, the selection of an international company to operate satellite Internet in Iraq.

Yaruwis told the semi-official newspaper Al-Sabah that “satellite Internet is the fastest that exists at the present time,” explaining that “the service it provides is better than the companies currently operating in Iraq.”

He added, "From the technical aspect, satellite Internet is easier to install and equip to citizens, stressing that the prices for subscribing to it are very high."

Yarois pointed out that “the Ministry of Communications was in contact with the three international companies that provided this service from 50 international countries,” noting that “those companies take into account, in providing the service and determining the subscription price, the individual’s income and the economic conditions that the country is experiencing.”

He continued, "Subscription to this type of Internet is not obligatory for the citizen. Rather, it will be optional and according to each family's ability to use regular or satellite Internet to operate it at home or companies."
