The official spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, Muthanna Jabbar, announced that the price difference for food items in our outlets reached 30% less than the prices in the local market.
Jabbar said, “Since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Commerce has encouraged and informed the three food companies to practice their commercial activity in addition to their main tasks, which are the food basket mission,” noting that “according to the Companies Law, they are allowed to engage in speculation and participate in the local market.”
He added, "The Minister directed the opening of food outlets at competitive prices, noting that" the profit exists, but it is less than the profit in the local market.
He explained that the price difference for the materials offered in our outlets reached 30% less than the local market.
He continued, "Plans for the outlets began last Ramadan, and outlets were opened on the Karkh 2 side, on the Rusafa 1 side, in Karbala 1, in Nineveh 1, in Salah al-Din 1, and in Maysan," noting that 15 sales outlets will be opened in all governorates of Iraq.
He stated, “In the 2024 plan, we will reach 30 outlets, and after 2024, the plan will develop to 150 outlets,” indicating that this outlet operates through the mechanism of participation and investment.
