    The Ministry of Planning revealed the details of the meeting of the delegation of the regional and federal governments on the border crossings, while confirming agreement on several issues related to unifying the work of the crossings mechanism.
    Ministry spokesman Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi said in an interview with Al-Zawraa: A high-level meeting was held last week between representatives from the federal government and a delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim, and a number of ministers participated in it. Federalists, including the Ministers of Interior, Construction, Housing, Justice, and Higher Education, and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, as well as the Chairman of the Border Ports Authority, the Director-General of the General Authority for Taxes and Customs, and the head of the Legal Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The meeting was attended by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministers of Interior and Finance, and a number of advisors and general directors. In the departments of tax, customs and finance in the ministries of the Kurdistan region.
    He added that during the meeting, which lasted 3 hours, very important files and issues were discussed, related to customs policy at the national level, as well as the policy of managing border ports of all types and types, such as land, sea and air ports represented by airports, indicating that these files were discussed in depth in the meeting, and all were presented. He added his perceptions and visions to the process of managing these important joints.
    He pointed out that there are two basic dimensions at the border crossings, economic and security, and therefore there should be a unified policy regarding these important files.
    He explained that there were decisions that were referred to a committee that emerged from the meeting, and there is a period of one month from the date of the meeting to hold another meeting, so that the decisions that were agreed upon are ready for signature and approval by the members of the formed committee, and thus they will be sent to the Federal Council of Ministers for approval.
    Al-Hindawi indicated that what was reached in the meeting is very important and will represent a real shift in solving many of the problems that surrounded the border crossings, with regard to the import of goods in both checked and unchecked conditions, and with regard to customs tariffs and other important details, describing the understanding between the two communities as It was positive, and they presented their comments in this regard.
    Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani discussed with the Kurdistan delegation the unification of customs policy and the product protection law.
    A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office stated, “The Prime Minister received the Minister of Interior in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, Reber Ahmed, and the Minister of Finance and Economy, Awat Sheikh Janab, in the presence of the Minister of Housing in the federal government.”
    He explained, “The meeting discussed the general situation in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, and discussed a number of security, financial, and economic files, in addition to discussing the ongoing preparations for holding the Kurdistan region’s parliamentary elections in February of next year.”
    He added, “The importance of increasing coordination between the center and the region was emphasized to solve the outstanding problems related to the border crossings and unify the customs policy and the product protection law, in order to achieve the national interests of the country and its people.”[/size]
