The House of Representatives is looking forward to resuming the work of the provincial councils because it will reduce the pressure of tasks on it and on the government as well, because their work is primarily service and consists of basic and important committees, while the Election Commission reported the continuation of entering counting data and manual sorting of the results of the provincial council elections in the National Center.
A member of the House of Representatives, Dakhel Radi, told Al-Sabah: The start of the work of the governorate councils will remove a very large burden from the House of Representatives, as they are service councils and are the ones who re-elect the governor and his two deputies, in addition to their work being service oversight and approving some local legislation.
He pointed out that the re-election of council members and their formation is a step in the right direction and reduces the burden on the federal government and not just on Parliament, noting that its role is also supervisory, given that the governorate councils consist of effective main committees, especially after reducing their number.
Rady stressed that it is not true what is rumored that the provincial council is a source of corruption because it has no money, but only an operating budget and the salaries of its owners and members, indicating that the projects have no relationship to the councils because the projects are prepared by the administrative units and municipal directorates, and their estimated costs and statements are sent to The governorate for approval and the latter directs its projects according to its needs and allocations.
Meanwhile, Jumana Al-Ghalai, spokesperson for the Electoral Commission, stated in a press statement that appeals will be made against the final results after the completion of entering the manual count and sorting data and announcing the results approved by the Board of Commissioners, pointing to the completion of the matching process between the results and what is on the memory stick.
The final results will be announced.
