Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: US President Joe Biden said in a letter to the US Congress that the recent military action in Iraq is a necessary measure that is consistent with international law and our right to self-defense, after the bombing of the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq.
US President Joe Biden continued in a message to Congress that the United States is prepared to take further measures as necessary to confront threats or attacks.
At least one member of an Iraqi faction affiliated with the Popular Mobilization Forces was killed, following American air strikes that targeted “three sites” in central Iraq at dawn on Tuesday.
This statement highlights the United States' interpretation of the recent military operations in Iraq, as President Biden stressed that these measures are based on international law and the right to self-defense.
This statement demonstrates the readiness of the United States to use the necessary military measures to respond to threats or attacks targeting its interests or American forces in Iraq.
Analytically, this statement highlights the United States’ emphasis on using military force to maintain its interests and security in the region, and also reflects its desire to determine control over the security conditions in Iraq and protect American forces and the alliances that work with them.
It is worth noting that this military escalation could lead to further tensions and escalation in the region, and reinforce the need for a political solution that serves everyone’s interests and ensures stability and peace in Iraq.
