    Information / Baghdad..
The debate is still raging in the political corridors about who will assume the position of presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives after the dismissal of Muhammad al-Halbousi from his position last month, by decision by the Federal Supreme Court last November 14, after his involvement in forgery and embezzlement of funds.

Al-Halbousi, who was dismissed in cases of fraud and corruption, had resorted to mediation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani after a surprise visit yesterday evening, but he did not achieve his goal and then left empty-handed.
In light of these differences between the Sunni forces and the lack of consensus, the question remains: Who will decide whether the Speaker of the House of Representatives will be chosen by the Sunni forces or the parliament? .
The leader of the Anbar Alliance, Muhammad al-Fahdawi, confirmed that there were several proposals during dialogues conducted by Sunni political forces during the past days, the most prominent of which was not granting the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives to a person from Anbar Governorate so that it would not be a norm in the future.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalouma, “This proposal led to the Taqaddum Alliance headed by Al-Maqal Al-Halbousi to nominate Shaalan Al-Karim from Salah al-Din Governorate, who is one of the prominent leaders of the Taqaddum Alliance and a member of the Arab Parliament.”

For his part, the head of the Bayraq Al-Khair Party, Muhammad Othman Al-Khalidi, confirmed that there is no Sunni consensus so far on the candidate for the position of Speaker of Parliament, while indicating that the dome of the House of Representatives will decide the matter.
Al-Khalidi told Al-Maalouma, “The Sunni political forces are still different about agreeing on one or two candidates to compete for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives to succeed the sacked Muhammad Al-Halbousi,” pointing out that “the dispute continues between those forces and that the decision will be under the dome of Parliament.”
He added, "The meetings and bilateral meetings between the Sunni forces did not resolve any consensus despite the approaching first session of the legislative term of the House of Representatives, in which it is hoped that a vote on a new speaker of Parliament will be settled, as stated in the constitution."
He pointed out, "The differences are almost deep between the political forces due to the Taqadum Party insisting on being an alternative to it, as it is the largest Sunni bloc, but the other political forces do not want that."
In turn, the leader of the Azm Alliance, former MP Faris Al-Faris, confirmed today, Monday, that the Sunni political forces have not yet decided on the candidate for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives to succeed the article regarding the fraud and corruption cases of Muhammad Al-Halbousi.
Al-Fares said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “The political forces presented the State Administration Alliance with more than one candidate to compete for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives for each political bloc due to the failure to reach an agreement,” pointing out that “the real competition for the position will be between the Azm candidate and the Sovereignty candidate.” ".
He added, "The Sunni political forces held a number of joint and bilateral meetings for the purpose of reaching an agreement to nominate one or two candidates for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives to replace the dismissed Muhammad al-Halbousi, but they will not reach any agreement."

He continued, "After the inability of these forces to identify specific personalities, several names were given to each bloc, which is represented by alliances of progress, determination, and sovereignty for the political forces within the State Administration Alliance, with the aim of competing with each other within the dome of Parliament in the first session of the new legislative term."
Al-Faris pointed out that “the real competition for the position will be between the Azm candidate, MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and the sovereignty candidate, MP Salem Matar Al-Issawi.”
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives will begin holding the first session of the new legislative term on the ninth of this month.
The Federal Supreme Court had decided, earlier, to terminate the membership of the ousted Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, based on a forgery lawsuit filed by Representative Laith al-Dulaimi. Ended/25 AD
