The media spokesman for the Baghdad Municipality, Muhammad al-Rubaie, told “Al-Sabah”: At the end of last week, the Prime Minister launched two investment opportunities to establish the Baghdad metro and the Karbala-Najaf express train, as the Investment Authority set tomorrow, Monday, as the date to open the door for applications for companies on the authority’s platform in order to submit their offers. He explained that each train contains six cars and runs on electric power as part of the efforts made to reduce the rates of environmental pollution witnessed by the capital, in addition to eliminating the problem of traffic congestion.
Al-Rubaie continued that there is a tendency from the secretariat to develop the cultural reality in the capital, noting that the choice of the metro routes came within the areas most traveled by citizens, including Tahrir Square, Umm al-Tubul Mosque, and Baghdad Tower, in addition to Sadr City.
