The activities of the Iraq International Book Fair concluded in its fourth edition, which bore the name Palestine under the slogan “It became called Palestine” and was managed by Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts.
This year's edition came with a wide participation of publishing houses, reaching 350 houses from 16 countries, and with daily seminars in Al-Quds Hall, approaching 60 seminars in which many files were discussed, most notably Palestine, where all political, cultural, social, and artistic aspects were addressed.
On the closing day, the head of the Progress Alliance, Muhammad al-Halbousi, visited the exhibition and toured the exhibition halls with Mr. Fakhri Karim, head of the Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts.
Al-Halbousi said in an interview with (Al-Mada), “In advance, thanks to Al-Mada for sponsoring the exhibition, and our wishes for safety and security, and our regret for what Professor Fakhri Karim was exposed to, which is a miserable attempt and an attempt to intimidate, and it comes within the war of minds and ideas, and we are a free society that is well aware of the importance of thought and preserving the basic constants of the country.” .
He added, "We hope that it will be here as reading and understanding, not just printing and reading, and the importance of understanding the reality of Iraq, which has a great past and legacy. We need to educate the generation by learning about the experiences of others in various fields, whether literary, intellectual, or political."
He stressed that “the attempt to assassinate Karim is part of a campaign to intimidate people with reasonable minds, and we need to hear the other opinion and opinion, and it is an attempt to target important ideas.”
Also, Al-Quds Hall witnessed the screening of a documentary film about the third edition of the exhibition, “The Thinker Hadi Al-Alawi,” which bore the slogan “The Days of Black and White.”
